CSV to JSON
Turn spreadsheet exports into structured JSON.
How it works
- Paste your content or open a supported local file.
- Choose your settings, then preview or process it.
- Copy or download the result. Clear your work when finished.
A few useful details
CSV needs a header row. CSV → JSON keeps values as strings to preserve IDs and leading zeroes. JSON → CSV accepts an array of records, serialises nested values, and prefixes formula-like cells for safer spreadsheet opening.
Inputs are limited to 1 MB; text comparison is limited to 100,000 characters per side. File contents are not saved between visits.
When to use CSV to JSON
Turn a spreadsheet’s CSV export into an array of JSON records. The header row supplies the field names. Values stay as strings to preserve IDs, product codes and leading zeroes rather than guessing types from their appearance.
Frequently asked questions
Does it open Excel XLSX files?
No. Export the sheet as CSV first. CSV contains cell values rather than workbook formatting, multiple sheets or formulas.
Do quoted commas and multiline fields work?
Correctly quoted CSV fields are supported. Malformed rows or duplicate headers are rejected. For example, "Mangaluru, Karnataka" is one quoted field.
Why are numbers in quotes?
Automatic type conversion is disabled. Keeping strings prevents 001 becoming 1 and avoids guessing how dates or decimals should be interpreted.
