Key order ignored · Array order preserved

How it works

  1. Paste your content or open a supported local file.
  2. Choose your settings, then preview or process it.
  3. Copy or download the result. Clear your work when finished.

A few useful details

Object key order is ignored. Arrays are compared by position. Changes use JSON Pointer paths; this is a structural comparison, not a semantic merge.

Inputs are limited to 1 MB; text comparison is limited to 100,000 characters per side. File contents are not saved between visits.

A PRACTICAL GUIDE

When to use JSON comparison

Review API responses and configuration changes without differences caused only by indentation or object-key order. The result identifies added, removed and changed values using JSON Pointer paths. Both documents need valid standard JSON.

Frequently asked questions

Does array order matter?

Yes. Arrays are compared by position, so reordering items can create differences even when the same values remain.

Can I compare very large integer IDs?

This tool parses numbers with JavaScript precision. Quote IDs beyond the safe-integer range as strings on both sides. The separate JSON formatter preserves original number spelling; this structural comparator does not.

What does /items/0/name mean?

It points to the name field in the first item of the items array. JSON Pointer escapes a slash in a key as ~1 and a tilde as ~0.
