Image compressor

Adjust JPG or WebP quality, or aim for a target file size.

↓
Files stay on this device
Still JPG, PNG or WebP · up to 15 MB and 12 megapixels
One image at a time · no uploads

How it works

  1. Choose a still JPG, PNG, or WebP image from your device.
  2. Choose your settings, then preview or process it.
  3. Review the result and download your image.

A few useful details

PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG uses your chosen background. EXIF metadata is not retained; animated images, SVG, GIF, and HEIC are not supported. Compression may not reach your target or reduce an already optimised image. Output quality and colour can vary by browser.

Images: up to 15 MB, 8,000 pixels per side and 12 megapixels total. One image per job; current browser required. File contents are not saved between visits.

A PRACTICAL GUIDE

When to use Image compressor

Reduce image size by exporting JPG or WebP at adjusted quality. You can also aim for a target such as an attachment limit. Compression trades some detail for fewer bytes; inspect the preview and actual output size, especially when the source is already optimised.

Frequently asked questions

Is this lossless PNG optimisation?

No. The compressor adjusts lossy quality in JPG or WebP. Use Image converter for PNG output.

Why was the target not reached?

Image dimensions and content may require more bytes than the target allows at supported quality settings. The tool reports that outcome instead of claiming success.

Can I compress a batch?

The current tool handles one image per job. Use a still image up to 15 MB and 12 megapixels, with no side longer than 8,000 pixels.
