A few useful details
PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG uses your chosen background. EXIF metadata is not retained; animated images, SVG, GIF, and HEIC are not supported. Compression may not reach your target or reduce an already optimised image. Output quality and colour can vary by browser.
Images: up to 15 MB, 8,000 pixels per side and 12 megapixels total. One image per job; current browser required. File contents are not saved between visits.
When to use Image converter
Convert a still JPG, PNG or WebP image into another supported format. PNG can preserve transparency, JPG is widely supported for photographs, and WebP may suit destinations that support it. Review the exported image and its actual size before choosing a format.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats preserve transparency?
PNG and WebP can preserve it. JPG uses your selected background. The actual encoded output is checked because browser format support varies.
Can I use HEIC, SVG or animated GIF?
No. Still JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. Animated PNG and WebP are also rejected.
Is camera metadata retained?
No. The browser decodes and re-encodes the image; original EXIF metadata is not retained. Colour handling and encoder quality may differ between browsers.
