PDF to text
Extract selectable text into a downloadable text file.
How it works
- Choose the PDF or image files for this tool.
- Choose your settings, then preview or process it.
- Download your result; split pages and page images can be bundled as ZIP files.
A few useful details
Encrypted PDFs and interactive forms or signatures are not supported. Page operations do not preserve bookmarks and document-level features. PDF text extraction is not OCR; reading order may need cleanup.
Up to 20 MB per PDF, 40 MB combined and 100 pages total. Images to PDF accepts up to 20 images and 40 megapixels combined. Page image export is limited to 20 pages per job, 12 megapixels per page and 50 MB output. File contents are not saved between visits.
When to use PDF to text
Extract a PDF’s selectable text into a plain-text download with page labels. Search report content, copy passages or prepare text for another app. This reads an existing text layer; it cannot recognise words that are only present in scanned images.
Frequently asked questions
Why did no text appear?
The PDF may contain scans without a text layer. The tool reports when no selectable text is found. OCR is not included.
Can I preserve tables and formatting?
No. This is plain-text extraction, not PDF to Word. It does not reconstruct editable tables, fonts, images or layout.
Can I extract only a few pages?
Yes. Enter positions or ranges such as 1, 3-5. Sources can contain up to 100 pages; extracted text is limited to 5 MB.
